چکیده

Metabolism of food protein by gut microbes produce trimethylamine which on oxidation hepatic flavin-containing monooxygenases is transformed to trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO). TMAO has recently been implicated as a biomarker for atherosclerosis. TMAO, (CH3)3N+–O−), ionic and so hydrophilic molecule that freely available in blood plasma. For the effective interaction with lipid-soluble molecules, should be phase transferred lipid site. We show free effectively bonded zinc protoporphyrin IX dimethyl ester [ZnPPDME] yield [TMAOZnPPDME] using transfer reaction. The IX, [ZnPP], general, may form [TMAOZnPP] complex. nature such between [ZnPP] structurally shown model complex, [TMAOZnTPP] (TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin). These complexes readily move from polar plasma non-polar (lipid) site act oxo-transfer agent oxidize cholesterol causing Chromatographic circular dichroism (CD) studies either or alone cannot cholesterol. Ferrate(VI) oxidation of zinc-cyanide complex.

Zinc-cyanide complexes are found in gold mining effluents and in metal finishing rinse water. The effect of Zn(II) on the oxidation of cyanide by ferrate(VI) (Fe(VI)O(4)(2-), Fe(VI)) was thus investigated by studying the kinetics of the reaction of Fe(VI) with cyanide present in a potassium salt of a zinc cyanide complex (K(2)Zn(CN)(4)) and in a mixture of Zn(II) and cyanide solutions as a func...

Oxidation of the zinc-thiolate complex and uncoupling of endothelial nitric oxide synthase by peroxynitrite.

Nitric oxide (NO) is produced by NO synthase (NOS) in many cells and plays important roles in the neuronal, muscular, cardiovascular, and immune systems. In various disease conditions, all three types of NOS (neuronal, inducible, and endothelial) are reported to generate oxidants through unknown mechanisms. We present here the first evidence that peroxynitrite (ONOO(-)) releases zinc from the z...

Photocatalytic oxidation of methane over silver decorated zinc oxide nanocatalysts

The search for active catalysts that efficiently oxidize methane under ambient conditions remains a challenging task for both C1 utilization and atmospheric cleansing. Here, we show that when the particle size of zinc oxide is reduced down to the nanoscale, it exhibits high activity for methane oxidation under simulated sunlight illumination, and nano silver decoration further enhances the phot...

Trimethylamine-N-oxide, a metabolite associated with atherosclerosis, exhibits complex genetic and dietary regulation.

Circulating trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) levels are strongly associated with atherosclerosis. We now examine genetic, dietary, and hormonal factors regulating TMAO levels. We demonstrate that two flavin mono-oxygenase family members, FMO1 and FMO3, oxidize trimethylamine (TMA), derived from gut flora metabolism of choline, to TMAO. Further, we show that FMO3 exhibits 10-fold higher specific ac...
